FAQ’s – Media Replication
How do I need to supply my master?
CD replication requires a master on a high quality CD-R or a previously replicated copy. DVD5 replication requires a master on a high quality DVD-R or a previously replicated copy. DVD9 replication requires two DDPs (Digital Disc Protocol – one per layer). DVD10 replication requires two DDPs (Digital Disc Protocol – one per layer).
To preserve CD TEXT and track/album meta data on an audio CD, DDP delivery is the industry standard. DDPs can be delivered via Pure UDF CD-R discs. It is recommended this is supplied with a checksum.
CD ROM replication requires a master on a high quality CD-R or a previously replicated copy. Care must be taken with the allocation of data to either UDF or ISO partitions.

Please ensure you are 100% happy with the content on the disc you supply. This is essential as this physical master is used to create the glass stamper to mould your order. This means any bugs or errors on the physical master you supply us, will transfer to the replicated discs.
Does the price of a replicated disc include the printing of the disc?
Yes it does. All CD, DVD or Blu Ray duplication or replication quotes include a four colour print onto the disc face.
See Disc Printing for more information.
What is the difference between Duplication and Replication?
When discs are duplicated, a copy is made from an existing copy, much the same as burning a disc on a personal computer. When discs are replicated, a glass stamper is created from a master, then the discs are moulded from scratch. To read more about this process head to About Optical and Digital Media.
What is your turnaround time?
The standard turnaround is dependent on the quantity and type of order. For example, duplicated CDs or DVDs can be manufactured locally on a faster turnaround than bulk orders manufactured offshore, as can orders without paper parts or custom packaging. Please get in touch with one of our sales representatives for more specific information on the turnaround for your project.
Do you do bulk or mass CD and DVD replication?
Yes we do. We service large corporate and publishing organisations so we are highly experienced at bulk and mass replication, duplication, printing of CDs and DVDs and handling the freight and logistics.
What is CD manufacturing?
CD Manufacturing is the process of creating a glass master from an original master CD, then replicating the glass master to create exact, retail quality copies, generally in quantities of 500 or more.
