CD & DVD – Disc Printing
There are a few important considerations to be taken into account when designing artwork to be printed on a CD or DVD. Below you will find information on colour and what printing on a porous surface means when predicting what your finished art will look like.
CMYK Offset Printing
CD and DVD offset printing works like any other offset press. The artwork is made up of a 4 colour combination (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black) which when combined create all colours. CMYK is the best print type to use for artwork that contains images, gradients, or a mixture of more than 4 colours.
Screen Printing (Pantone)
Screen printing uses individually nominated Pantone colours, with the colours printed onto your disc one at a time. The Pantone Colour Matching System is the most accurate disc printing method available, as Pantone colours will always match due to a formula rather than colour combination.
